The Tort Cross is a boundary cross dating back to the 14th century, located on Santa Clara Street in the les Escodines neighborhood. Like all crosses of this type, it was built beside one of the roads entering and leaving Manresa, marking the beginning or end of the city’s jurisdiction.
Precisely because of its location, it was one of the places where Saint Ignatius of Loyola would stop to pray during the long walks and journeys he took during his stay in Manresa. Unfortunately, the original cross disappeared in 1902. It was replaced the following year by the current cross, which features an octagonal base and a richly decorated shaft, where a small image of Saint Ignatius can be seen under a tiny shelter.
