Porch and window of Boti's street

Manresa

The Arch of Carrer d’en Botí is a double, slightly pointed arch that supports a vault measuring six meters in length. Located at the base of a medieval residential building, which also features a simple twin window, it provides access to Carrer d’en Botí from Carrer de Sant Miquel.

This arch is one of the few remaining examples—along with Carrer del Balç—of Manresa’s original urban layout (in the Gothic/traditional 15th-century style). This passage once connected two of the ring streets that surrounded the Puigmercadal, linking the Carme and Sant Domènec gates of the old city walls.

Today, many of the buildings in the area date from the second half of the 19th century and have replaced the original medieval and early modern ones. An important part of the setting is the pavement made of squared flat stones, characteristic of Manresa’s oldest streets until relatively recently.

Notable features include the arches that support part of the building above Carrer d’en Botí and the twin window on the first floor, with a slender smooth column supporting two semicircular arches, each carved from a single piece of stone. Although the building was once plastered, the masonry above the arches and on the first floor is quite regular, especially the voussoirs of the arch.
