Lluvià House

Manresa

The Lluvià House (Casa Lluvià) is a single-family home with a garden located on Architect Oms Street, next to Pere III Promenade. It was designed by the modernist architect Ignasi Oms i Ponsa in 1908, commissioned by the businessman Sebastià Tàpies. It is considered one of the architect’s finest works, where he demonstrates a much more mature style, fully embracing modernist inventiveness. A few years later, it was acquired by Lluís Lluvià, a member of a lineage of industrial property owners from Manresa. The building acquired its current name at that time.

The building is characterized by an original play of volumes, combining a central body with two towers of different proportions. Notable features include the floral and vegetal decoration typical of modernism, consisting of the sgraffito on the façade, the capitals, and corbels, as well as the tile and brick profiles on the cornices.

Today, the Lluvià House is home to the headquarters of the Central Catalonia delegation of the Architects’ Association of Catalonia.
