Kursaal Theatre

Manresa

The Kursaal Theatre is a cultural venue built in 1927 at the request of businessman Andreu Cabot. It is located at the beginning of the Passeig de Pere III.

The current building was designed by architect Josep Firmat in a restrained Noucentista style, with some historicist elements. The façade has a very classical composition, featuring a central courtyard with multiple Ionic columns and a terrace with a balustrade.

During its decades of splendor, the Kursaal operated as a cinema. A gradual decline and increasing structural deterioration eventually led to its closure in 1988. In the mid-1990s, the cultural association “El Galliner” launched a campaign to recover the space, gaining support from both local authorities and the citizens. After a long restoration process, the new Kursaal was inaugurated in 2007, this time as a theatre, becoming a key hub of Manresa’s cultural life and an important reference in the Catalan theatre scene.

The cultural association “El Galliner” is responsible for programming the activities held each season. The theatre’s schedule is divided into several sections:

  • Toc de Música: concert programming.
  • Toc de Dansa: activities related to classical and contemporary dance.
  • Toc de Teatre: seasonal theatre performances.
  • Entre Toc de Teatre: plays scheduled between seasons.
  • Petit Kursaal: activities for children.
  • Platea Jove: events for young audiences, with special discounts.

Tickets can be purchased at the Kursaal Theatre box office, by phone at (+34) 93 872 36 36, or online.
