The Albareda Flour Factory is a former Modernist-style industrial complex located at the intersection of Bruc Street, Dos de Maig Street, and the Passeig del Riu.
The flour factory was designed in 1909 by the versatile architect Alexandre Soler i March. It is a clear example of a typically Modernist factory. Its structure consists of three distinct sections: a central body (the oldest part), a side warehouse with a ground floor and two upper stories, and finally a purely residential area.
The section facing Bruc Street was the result of an extension carried out in 1918 by architect Josep Firmat i Serramalera. The structural and decorative elements are simple and functional. The cast-iron pillars with capitals, wooden beams, and floor slabs stand out for their artistic quality. The use of brick across the different façades creates a visually appealing effect, combining the white plaster of the main body with red brick around the openings and corners.
Flour production was one of the main industries in Manresa at the beginning of the 20th century. In addition to the Albareda Factory, other buildings belonging to the same sector can also be found, such as La Florinda and La Favorita.
