La Casa de la Culla is a historic farmhouse located in Manresa, offering a journey through time thanks to its heritage and its wine-growing activity. This farmhouse, documented since the 10th century, has been restored to preserve its original charm and to become a centre dedicated to agriculture, wine culture and environmental education.
Guided Tours:
Explore the history of the farmhouse and its surroundings through guided tours that showcase the different rooms of the house, the traditional cellar and the vineyard fields. Learn about the history of viticulture in the region and the traditional wine-making processes.
La Casa de la Culla is the headquarters of the Regulatory Council of the Pla de Bages Designation of Origin: one of the smallest designations in Catalonia, with 450 hectares across 26 municipalities and only 14 wineries, with consolidated quality levels and recognition.
Educational Activities:
La Casa de la Culla offers a variety of educational activities for schools, families and adults. Through workshops and hands-on activities, participants can learn about organic farming, biodiversity and sustainability.
It is also home to the Bages Learning Camp, an educational service of the Department of Education of the Government of Catalonia for local schools, aimed at interpreting the natural, social and cultural environment.
A meteorological station
It is the only official station in Manresa. In 2007, an automatic station was installed at the same point—the AEMET station 149X—which allows real-time data consultation through this link.
Community Gardens
Almost half a hectare of the grounds of the Culla is dedicated to the community garden project. They are managed by the Aigües de Manresa Foundation – Junta de la Séquia together with the Community Development Plan of La Balconada and the Punt Òmnia of La Balconada.
What are the benefits of working in a community garden?
- Promoting collective organisation models through teamwork, conflict resolution and group facilitation.
- Creating spaces for learning, exchange and social integration for gardeners, neighbourhood residents and the school community through educational activities carried out by the Culla educational team.
- Generating a dynamic of promoting organic horticulture beyond the Culla, in the Balconada neighbourhood and the city of Manresa.
