Armengou House
Manresa
The Armengou House, also popularly known as Armengou Hardware Store, is a large residential building located on Vic Road in Manresa.
It was designed by the Manresa-born architect Ignasi Oms i Ponsa and built between 1899 and 1903. Its eclectic style already shows some of the features of Modernisme that Oms i Ponsa would fully embrace in his later works, such as Ca la Buresa and Casa Lluvià.
The main façade is made of red brick and divided by pilasters containing niches that once held images of the patron saints of the owning family. Another notable feature is the metal structure of the ground floor, where a hardware store used to be. Today, this ground floor is occupied by various commercial establishments.
