Esteve Pharmacy

The Esteve Pharmacy, born from Esteve Laboratories, was founded in 1787 and has always been run by the same family: the Esteve family. In 1926, they decided to commission the architect Josep Firmat to design the decorative elements for their pharmacy in Plana de l'Om square.

The decoration is in keeping with modernism with stained glass windows, wood carvings and wrought iron. The ceramic apothecary jars are still preserved inside. Esteve Laboratories was founded in 1929 in Manresa by Dr Antoni Esteve i Subirana. In 1942, he moved the laboratories to Barcelona, specifically to the Guinardó district, where the company's current administrative headquarters are still located. The creator of the laboratories, Antoni Esteve i Subirana, died in 1979, however, leaving an important legacy that would continue to make the company grow. For example, the first speciality vitamins were marketed from the very beginning of the laboratories’ development. Also in 1974, Isdin laboratories were created, together with the Antonio Puig, S.A. perfumery group. Today, it has a business presence in over 100 countries around the world, with manufacturing plants in Europe, America and Asia.
