Saint Ignatius Festivities

Manresa

The Sant Ignasi Festivities were originated in 1622, the year of the pilgrim's canonization and the centenary of his stay in Manresa. Traditionally, they have been organized by the merchants' association, with various activities in the Historic Centre, and La Cova de Sant Ignasi (Saint Ignatius Cave), which offers masses in various Ignatian sites.

The City Council has joined the festival's programme of events, organizing a set of cultural and recreational activities, which have been increasing with the intention of promoting the festival, making it more attractive, and extending its visibility and participation.

This action aims to keep the memory of the pilgrim Saint Ignatius alive, creating a festive space for coexistence and harmony. These festivities are an ideal framework to help consolidate the Historic Centre, an area striving to recover the vitality that characterized it in the past, which is also one of the objectives of the Manresa 2022 project, through concerts, talks, guided tours, fairs, cultural activities, and popular celebrations.
